Using Stable Diffusion to create US National Park Images
Bryce Canyon, Zion, Canyonlands, Dinosaur National Parks here we come!
For this week’s newsletter, I wanted explore image generators in more detail. First stop was Midjourney through DISCORD, but that ended up as a dead end as it required a subscription. Youtube people who talk about image generation often mention Stable Diffusion often so I gave that a shot. I used a recurring prompt created by this YouTube person to generate images of Arches (Delicate Arch), Zion, Bryce Canyon, and Dinosaur National Parks, the latter being the most interesting. One of the Zion images took me by surprise, as I had not intended the image to be in the style of Van Gogh. But it’s right there in the prompt.

Having visited the arch many times through the years, I love this image for its half light moment and dreamy-ness.

I much prefer the second image, though the first one did get an LOL moment from me.

This one is the best! The AI image generator put an actual Dino in the mix, putting viewers into another time. Kind of great.

Of all the images, I like this one the best, mostly because I love Bryce Canyon and the contrast this image offers.
So what do you think about AI image generators for National Parks? It was a fun exercise in helping me remember the things I love about these places.
